Research and application of concrete replacement length for shear walls in a high-rise residential building
This paper takes as its background the severe inadequacy of concrete strength in shear walls of high-rise resi-dential buildings encountered in practical work, necessitating reinforcement through replacement concrete strengthening methods. It investigates the length of replacement and derives insights based on the actual conditions of four-sided wall structures. The study explores the impacts of the replacement length on axial compression ratio, eccentrically loaded com-pressive capacity, wall stiffness, and deformation. It confirms the feasibility of local replacements and quantifies the extent to which these various indicators are influenced by the replacement length. The paper introduces the concept of a critical replacement length, which can serve as a supplementary guideline for determining the required replacement length beyond edge components. In conjunction with durability requirements, durable protection measures are proposed for the unre-placed concrete sections.
