Research Progress of Runoff Segmentation Based on Isotope Technology
Environmental isotopes are stable isotopes that are not controlled by researchers. The isotopes 2H and 18O are needed for isotope runoff separation,as well as other properties of water such as conductivity and pH.Hydrogen and oxygen isotopes can effectively indicate the source of runoff.Prior to conducting runoff separation, analysis of local water is necessary to ensure the isotopes are uniform in time and space. This article summarizes scholars'measurements of local atmospheric precipitation lines, basic concepts of hydrogen and oxygen isotopes, the significance and methods of two-source and multi-source runoff separation in different regions. The following conclusions were drawn:(1)Analysis of local water is necessary prior to conducting runoff separation to ensure isotopes are uniform in time and space.Otherwise,it may result in a contribution rate of a certain water source exceeding 100%.(2)In the case of multi-source runoff separation,a ternary mixing diagram should be created to determine the reliability of the data.(3)In future studies, remote sensing methods such as GIS can be combined with isotope analysis to improve the accuracy of runoff separation.
