According to the environmental monitoring data of the past years,the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of surface water environmental quality in Beijing in the past 20 years were discussed.The main driving factors affecting the water environment quality in Beijing were clarified from three aspects,including population scale growth,industrial structure adjustment and water use structure change,and several regulatory measures were proposed to provide theoretical basis and technical support for the future governance of surface water environment in Beijing.
