In engineering design practice,especially in the Yellow River Basin engineering design,the selection of water and sediment series often has a great impact on the project scale,application mode,building layout,etc.Therefore,it is very important and necessary that the selected series is sufficiently representative and meets the needs of engineering safety.The natural water and sediment series of Longmen station were selected,and the representativeness of the runoff and sediment series of Longmen station was analyzed and demonstrated by using the methods of eigenvalue analysis,period analysis and fractal analysis,and a water and sediment series of Longmen station with certain representativeness was proposed.
