Analysis of Typical River Morphological Characteristics in the Pearl River Delta Network Area Based on Multibeam Bathymetry
Riverbed topography monitoring and its evolution trends are critical factors affecting flood safety and the comprehensive utilization of water resources. To understand the changes in the underwater topography of the river, multibeam echosounder systems were used to monitor the underwater topography of the Bai She Xuan section of the Pingzhou Waterway in Foshan City over nearly a decade. The monitoring results were analyzed using methods such as channel depth changes, scour and deposition volume calculations, and comparisons of cross-sections and slopes in key sections of the river.Recommendations for river management were proposed based on these analyses. The results indicate that sections 1 to 5 of the Bai She Xuan deep channel have a high risk of scour, with significant left bank slope incision occurring between 2014 and 2018.Th'e conclusions of this study can provide a basis for decision-making regarding the identification of dangerous sections and river management.
