A novel fiber strain sensor is proposed, based on the two-mode interference of a suspended-core fiber.A fullvectorial finite difference mode solver is employed as the numerical tool for characterizing the proposed strain sensor.The strain sensors using conventional multimode fibers, while the temperature sensitivity of the proposed sensor is relatively low.
