To alleviate the burden of elderly drivers, suggestions for highly usable car interface designs are proposed. This study adopted the method of usability testing.Firstly,by setting up testing prototypes and design tasks, six elderly drivers were invited to participate in static testing. After completing the test, the SUS scale and satisfaction index were used to evaluate and identify usability issues.Based on this,we proposed design principles for elderly-friendly automotive interfaces, optimized the design solutions, and validated the optimization effect.Older drivers have lower usability and satisfaction with car interfaces, requiring optimization in design. This study can greatly reduce the interface usage time for older drivers and increase the success rate of interface operations.Usability testing can be used as a method to optimize the design of car interfaces, which can help improve usability and satisfaction for older adults.Designers should focus on optimizing aspects such as icon recognition, color matching, streamlined function tasks, and reasonable interface layout.
