PARTICIPATORY DESIGN AND INNOVATION-FROM THEORETICAL ORIGINS TO PRACTICAL EXPLORATION
To address the economic,social,and ecological challenges in rural revitalization by exploring the theoretical origins of participatory design,enhancing rural residents'design capabilities and cultural confidence,and promoting rural economic revitalization and sustainable industrial development.Utilizing a collaborative mechanism between designers,universities,and rural communities,this study focuses on the resources in the Huairou district.It analyzes the market demand for handicrafts made from waste wood,uncovers the creative potential of rural residents,and involves designers working with residents to develop and promote these handicrafts.The project identified abundant waste wood resources in Huairou district and developed high-value creative handicrafts,enhancing the design capabilities and market competitiveness of rural residents.It increased cultural confidence among rural residents and promoted effective utilization of local resources and economic benefits.Participatory design holds significant application value in rural revitalization.By integrating local theoretical origins of participatory design with modern practices,it not only enhances the creative design capabilities of rural residents but also achieves multi-dimensional coordinated development of the rural economy,society,and ecology.This provides new pathways and practical experiences for rural revitalization.
