URBAN FURNITURE DESIGN STRATEGIES FROM A COGNITIVE NARRATIVE PERSPECTIVE
The work aims to analyze the narrative types of urban furniture from the perspective of cognitive narrative and explore design strategies within this perspective.Guided by cognitive narrative theory, the work delves into users'perception processes of narrative design in urban furniture.Based on this exploration, through case collection and cluster analysis, three different narrative types are identified:instantaneous-triggered narrative,behavior-based narrative, and accompanying text narrative.Corresponding design strategies are proposed from three dimensions.First, breaking conventional plots or utilizing similarity symbols at the visceral level to enhance sensory stimulation and arouse users'experiential interest.Secondly, setting up multi-level narrative interaction modes at the behavioral level to enhance the level of experience.Lastly,at the reflective level, grasping the content of the narrative text and employing a multi-point presentation approach to convey a complete narrative concept.By adopting multi-level narrative experience strategies, from narrative perception to narrative cognition, design is conducted layer by layer to achieve better narrative design effects.
