Preparation of baicalin antibacterial microcapsules and their application on cotton fabric
The microcapsules are prepared by emulsion-chemical cross-linking method with baicalin, chitosan and sodium alginate as raw materials. The surface appearance, particle size, chemical structures, and thermal properties of microcapsules are characterized.Baicalin and baicalin microcapsules are separately finished on cotton fabrics by cross-linking agent finishing method, and the surface appearance and antibacterial properties of the two functional fabrics are analyzed. The results show that the antibacterial rates of microcapsules against E.coli and S.aureus are both above 99%.Compared with baicalin, the microcapsules are better adhered to the surface of cotton fabric. The antibacterial rates of the two functional fabrics are above 90%.The antibacterial activity of baicalin microcapsule cotton fabric is better than that of baicalin treated cotton fabric after washing.
