Synthesis and application of polyacrylate emulsion
Polyacrylate emulsion is synthesized by emulsion polymerization using styrene, methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate as the polymerization monomers. The synthetic process is optimized, and the polyacrylate emulsion is mixed with polyvinyl alcohol to prepare a finishing solution as a stiffing agent for polyester fabric. The effects of polyacrylate concentration, polyvinyl alcohol concentration, curing temperature and time on the stiffening finish are investigated. The results show that the polyacrylate emulsion synthesized with anionic/nonionic emulsifier ratio of 1∶1 and redox system as the initiator has good stability and less agglomerates. The stiffening finish of polyester fabric under polyacrylate emulsion of 200 g/L,polyvinyl alcohol of 20 g/L,and curing at 160 ℃ for 3 min,the bending length of treated fabric is increased from 1.96 cm to 3.31 cm,the breaking strength is increased from 851 N to 1 210 N,the whiteness is decreased slightly and the hydrostatic pressure is almost unchanged.
