Cellulose diacetate chenille as a novel cigarette smoke filtration material
Cellulose diacetate chenille yarn is successfully spun with the terylene/cotton(T/C)as the core yarn and the cellulose diacetate fibers as the pile yarn via a chenille spinner, and its comprehensive performance and flue filtration performance are investigated. The arrangement direction of the diacetate fiber bundles in as-spun yarns is perpendicular to the direction of smoke flow, which is different from the conventional cigarette filters(axial arrangement)with an innovative arranged structure. The results demonstrate that the brushed chenille yarn exhibites the low absorption capacity. The comprehensive performance of as-spun cellulose diacetate chenille yam by a spacer with 2.2 mm neck width is commendable. The adsorption capacity for aerosol capture per cigarette of carbonyl compounds(ACM),moisture, nicotine, tar and glycerol of sample Ⅱ are 40.03,21.96,1.98,15.86 and 1.89 mg/cig,respectively.The temperature drop and the suction resistance from sample Ⅱ as the cigarette filter are the most appropriate than those of other samples, indicating it can provide a better smoking sense for the consumers.
