Application of vegetable dye YD to cotton knits dyeing
In response to the problem of low dyeing rate of plant dyes by direct dyeing method, alum is used as mordant in cotton knits dyeing with plant dye YD.The effects of dyeing temperature, acetic acid dosage, dyeing bath ratio, holding time, alum dosage and dye dosage on the dyeing performance of cotton knitted fabrics are studied and the dyeing process is optimized. The optimized dyeing process is determined as follows:dyeing temperature 100 ℃,acetic acid dosage 0.7 g/L,bath ratio 1∶20,alum dosage 1 g/L,holding for 20 min after adding alum.Alum can improve the apparent color depth of the fabrics, but the vegetable dye YD is only suitable for light color. The color fastness to soaping and rubbing of the dyed fabrics is above grade 4,which could meet the requirements of color fastness of garment fabrics, and the dyed fabrics have good antibacterial and anti-UV properties.
