Influence of process parameters on mechanical properties of 3D needled preforms
Three-dimensional(3D)needling preforms are prepared with different processing parameters and their mechanical properties are tested to investigate the effects of needling density and needling depth on mechanical properties. The results show that the mechanical properties of the preform are affected by needle density and needle depth synergistically, and the effects of the two factors on the in-plane and interlaminar tensile properties of the preform are similar.Based on response surface methodology(RSM),the comprehensive effect of several needling processing parameters on in-plane and interlaminar tensile strength is studied, and a multi process factor multi-objective performance correlation mathematical model was constructed. The optimum values of tensile strength and processing parameters are obtained as follows:the needling density is 23N/cm2,the needling depth is 11 mm,the in-plane tensile strength is 5.71 MPa;the needling density is 29 N/cm2,the needling depth is 14 mm,and the interlaminar tensile strength is 42.63 KPa.
