Probe into the Methodology of Mediating Contradictions and Disputes Based on Life Cycle Theory
The exploration into a diverse methodology of preventing,mediating,and solving contradictions and disputes is a requisite for police agencies not only to perform their duties,but also to maintain social stability and create a new situation of joint social governance.The contradictions and disputes that nowadays police stations confront in routine policing practice have such clear characteristics as diversity in types and in subject demands,extreme expression forms,dispute scale that tends to involve public groups,and disputes that seemingly exist for a long time.Even the dispute mediation has such defects as"Four Focuses and Four Neglects".As the life cycle theory can guide contradiction and dispute mediation,the two has consistency in the evolution process,corresponding ways of expression and handling strategies at different stages,corresponding"window periods"at different stages,and long-term resolution of problems.Such measures can be taken in the process of mediating contradictions and disputes as information collection,prevention and response,damage control,mediation and resolution,follow-up visits,and compensation before,during,and after the event.
