Polycentric Spatial Structure and Carbon Reduction
Accelerating the realization of carbon emission reduction has become a strategic goal pursued by regional development, and existing research mainly focuses on the relationship between individual regions and carbon emissions, but pays less attention to the impact of polycentric spatial structure on carbon emissions. The spatial structure was measured based on NPP/VIIRS night light data, and the influence effect and mechanism of polycentric spatial structure on carbon emissions were explored. The results show that:(1)the polycentric structure contributes to carbon emission reduction, and the conclusion still holds after considering robustness tests such as instrumental variables;(2)from the perspective of heterogeneity, the carbon emission reduction effect of polycentric structure is more obvious in small and medium-sized cities, inland areas and ordinary cities;(3)the mechanism analysis shows that the polycentric spatial structure promotes carbon emission reduction through market integration and industrial structure rationalization. The research conclusion provides certain empirical enlightenment for China's future urban development model under the dual carbon strategy.
