The digital economy has become an important engine for stabilizing growth and promoting trans-formation.Based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2003 to 2022,by constructing a digital e-conomy level indicator system and using the entropy method to calculate the digital economy of each prov-ince,while measuring the industrial value chain position of each province,the impact of the digital econo-my on the industrial value chain position was studied.The research found that the digital economy has a role in improving the industrial value chain position,and there is a threshold effect of technological innova-tion.When technological innovation surpasses the threshold value,the role of the digital economy in im-proving the industrial value chain position significantly increases;industrial upgrading and human capital play an intermediate role in the effect of the digital economy on the industrial value chain position;the im-pact of the digital economy on the industrial value chain position is heterogeneous,with a greater impact on the eastern region and technology-intensive industries,compared to the central and western regions and la-bor-intensive industries.
