Research on The Impact of High Speed Rail on The Green Development of Cities in The Yangtze River Economic Belt
Based on the panel data of cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2003 to 2019,the difference-in-difference model and the spatial Durbin model were used to investigate the impact and mecha-nism of high-speed rail opening on urban green development. The results show that the opening of high-speed rail has a significant effect on the green development level of cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Mechanism analysis shows that the opening of high-speed rail can have a positive impact on the im-provement of urban green development through generation effect, structural optimization effect and green innovation effect.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the opening of high-speed rail has a greater role in promoting green development in upstream cities. The promotion effect of high-speed rail opening on GTFP in different circles showed an"inverted U"shaped trend, and reached the maximum at 80~180km away from the provincial capital. In addition, the opening of high-speed rail has a significant negative spatial spillover effect on the level of regional green development. The conclusions of this paper have important implications for how to promote urban green development through transportation infrastructure upgrading.
