Preparation of Organic Acids by Solvent-free Aerobic Oxidation of Aldehydes
Organic acids were prepared by aerobic oxidation of aldehydes with air as a green oxidant.Firstly,ben-zaldehyde was used as a model substrate to optimize the conditions such as solvent, solid grinding, additives as well as other conditions. The optimized conditions were obtained as follows:room temperature, open atmosphere, and grinding with a frosted glass mortar for 20 minutes.Under above conditions, benzaldehyde could be quantitatively converted into benzoic acid without any additives.Secondly, relationship between the structures of aldehydes and the yields of acid products was established, and it was found that the electronic effect and conjugation effect of aldehydes played a pivotal role. Finally,a plausible mechanism of the reaction was proposed.
