The Effect of Electrochemical Treatment of Water on the Corrosion Behavior of Carbon Steel
The study investigated the impact and control of electrochemical treatment of circulating water on the cor-rosion behavior of carbon steel using the single-factor experimental method.Experiments were conducted and a detailed analysis was performed on the effects of water quality factors in circulating water on the corrosion of carbon steel,includ-ing pH value, conductivity, chloride ion concentration, and hardness. The results show that as the distance between elec-trodes decrease, the current density and electrolysis time increase, the corrosion resistance of carbon steel decrease. When the ion concentration in the circulating water increases, especially the chloride ion concentration,it will promote the corro-sion of carbon steel. Therefore, during the electrochemical treatment in circulating water, increasing the distance between electrodes, reducing the current density and decreasing electrolysis time, and controlling the concentration of chloride and calcium ions in the circulating water can effectively slow down the corrosion of carbon steel in the electrochemical system.By optimizing the chemical environment of the circulating water and adding corrosion inhibitors, the corrosion of carbon steel can be greatly reduced, extending the service life of equipment, and improving the efficiency and safety of industrial production.
