近代海关洋员在近代中国是一个特殊的存在,他们在履行海关本职工作之外留下了不少著述,这些跨文化生存留下的作品使其踏入跨文化传播者之列,在中西文化交流中亲身经历了文明互鉴的特殊历史实践.本文通过对海关洋员著述及其影响的分析,从文化传播维度展现海关洋员的另一个历史侧面,旨在拓宽中国近代海关史的研究视野,丰富近代中外文化交流史的研究内容,并为文明交流互鉴提供一个历史样本.
Abstract
Foreign customs officials in modern China represented a unique presence,leaving be-hind numerous writings beyond their professional duties at customs.These works,born out of cross-cul-tural existence,have placed them among the ranks of cross-cultural communicators,experiencing the special practice of civilization exchange and mutual learning in the cultural exchange between China and the West.This paper analyzes the writings by the customs officials and their influence,presenting anoth-er historical aspect of customs officials from the dimension of cultural communication.The aim is to broaden the research horizons of modern Chinese customs history,enrich the study of modern Sino-for-eign cultural exchange history,and provide a historical sample for the exchange and mutual learning of civilizations.
