Support Policy for Informal Caregivers in Britain and Its Implications
Facing the challenges of an aging population and changes in family structure within the elderly care system,supporting families who care for the elderly has become a new way in the long-term care system.The support policy for informal carers in Britain is still of reference significance for China,whose support system for elderly care families is in the exploratory stage.In Britain,the National Strategy of Carers has played an important role in promoting the recognition of caregivers'value,implementing the protection of caregivers'rights and interests,and improving the support policy system for caregivers,which includes economic support,employment support and service support now.By reviewing the development history and current content of support policies for informal carers in Britain,this paper proposed its experience and its enlightenment to China from the aspects of value recognition of caregivers,responsibilities of government,collaborative governance of multiple participation,and needs orientation of policy.
