Time banks are an essential volunteer service component and a key force in elderly care provision.Against the backdrop of rural China's aging population, time banks,as a novel mechanism for mutual assistance in elderly care through time exchange, hold significant practical implications related to their promotion and application in rural communities. This study explored time banks'potential as rural elderly care components and villagers'time bank participation willingness by systematically examining the key factors influencing such willingness among villagers in R County.Based on survey data from 422 villagers in northern Guangdong's R County, this study employed correlation and multiple regression analyses to comprehensively analyze the impacts of life satisfaction, life evaluation, personal trust, village perception, and perceived risk on willingness to participate in time banks. The results indicate that life satisfaction, life evaluation, and perceived risk are significant positive factors affecting participation willingness, whereas village perception and personal trust, despite their theoretical potential, did not show significant influences. The findings highlight the importance of improving villagers'life satisfaction and happiness and reducing perceived risks to enhance their time bank participation willingness. This paper shares empirical evidence for formulating effective rural community elderly care policies and offers suggestions for promoting and optimizing the time bank mechanism.
