Analysis and countermeasures of water ingress in the HDPE reactor of Hostalen process
Water will react with triethyl aluminum and catalyst,resulting in triethyl eading to triethyl aluminum starvation and catalyst deactivation,which seriously affects the stable production of the plant.This paper introduces thetechnological process of Hostalen HDPE Plant,and analyzes and lists the potential risk points that maymay cause water ingress into the reactor.Based on the actual case of a factory,the process performance of polymerization reaction system was described in detail when the catalyst is deactivated and after the activity is restored.The analytic results show that the reason of catalyst deactivation was due to the melting of ice in the flash tank aftercooler and its entry into the reaction system.Emergency response measures and preventive measures have been proposed for the water water ingress into the polymerization system.
