Interpretation of Yinggehai Low-speed Mudstone and Its Application in Geosteering
In recent years, the Yinggehai Basin has encountered low-speed mudstone layers with"bright spot"seismic response characteristics in the middle-deep layers. These layers are consistent with the traditional understanding of gas-bearing reservoir characteristics, which can lead to traps in the identification of the geosteering target layers. This paper compares logging and seismic data from vertical wells, and anchors the logging response characteristics and seismic attribute features of high-resistance low-speed mudstones during drilling. These characteristics are then applied to the logging interpretation in geosteering, analyzing the logging characteristics of horizontal wells encountering high-resistance low-speed mudstones and the geosteering methods to avoid affecting the target gas layers.Through field application cases, this study demonstrates how to use geosteering to avoid falling into mudstone traps in multi-fault complex reservoir drilling operations, timely judge the boundary position of the encountered formations, adjust the well trajectory, reduce ineffective footage, and improve the logging encounter rate.Combining other seismic attribute data to guide horizontal well construction enables better achievement of the geosteering target.
