Identification of Formation Breathing Effect and Its Impact on Cementing Quality
The formation breathing effect poses significant challenges to the safety of drilling well control and downhole operations. The analysis shows that the reason for this phenomenon is due to different sedimentary environments, resulting in formation voids being smaller than the normal depth of formation void pressure. Therefore, the difference between formation void pressure and formation fracture pressure is smaller than the normal value, and the drilling fluid density window is narrow during the operation.By introducing how to distinguish respiratory effects, the adverse effects of respiratory effects on well control safety and the subsequent cementing process, technical measures to address respiratory effects are proposed to improve the quality of cementing and sealing.
