BCU-2 catalyst and its product development on Unipol process
BCU-2 catalyst is a propylene polymerization catalyst developed by Sinopec(Beijing)Chemical Research Institute and is for producing iMPact PP copolymer on Unipol process. The liquid-phase polymerization in the lab test of BCU-2 catalyst shows high polymerization activity(90.7kgPP/gcat),high stereospecificity(II:98.8%).The PP powder shows narrow particle size distribution and low fines content.BCU-2 catalyst is used to developed iMPact copolymerized polypropylene LC1813 on Unipol process and the process runs smoothly.CoMPared with imported catalysts, the polymerization activity of BCU-2 catalyst is slightly higher, reaching about 46kgPP/gcat,with similar hydrogen sensitivity and copolymerization ability. The powder of LC1813 produced by BCU-2 catalyst has a larger particle size coMPared to imported catalysts, and the fines content of homopolymer powder obtained in the first reactor is lower. The total ethylene content and rubber phase content in the final LC1813 pellets are basically the same. The resin product has better rigidity-toughness balance than the LC1813 produced with imported catalysts:the flexural modulus is about 10.9%higher when the Izod notched iMPact strength is basically the same.
