International Experiences and Lessons for the Sustainable Development of the Soybean Industry Chain
The sustainable development of the soybean industry chain is a key pathway to revitalizing China's soybean industry and an important practice for China to actively participate in global sustainable development governance. This paper proposes a general framework for the sustainable development of the soybean industry chain based on the goals and principles of Transforming Our World:The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable De-velopment,considering economic, environmental, and social dimensions.Using this framework, the paper reviews the main practices and experiences of the United States,Brazil, and international grain traders in constructing sustainable soybean industry chains. The results indicate that the establishment of sustainable soybean industry chains in these countries and enterprises follows the United Nations'sustainable develop-ment goals and principles as fundamental guidelines, demonstrating characteristics such as strong systematic policy planning, prominent leadership in green innovation,a high degree of international collaborative govern-ance,and significant improvements in export competitiveness.Based on these findings, the paper offers insights and policy recommendations, including strengthening top-level design, promoting green technologies,optimi-zing trade methods, developing green finance and establishing traceability systems.
