Overview of Ice Detection and Deicing Technology for Wind Turbine Blades
Ice formation on the blades of wind turbines is a common and challenging problem in high-cold regions.Ice formation on the blades will change their aerodynamic characteristics, increase surface roughness, increase drag, cause power loss, and even cause resonance between the tower and the rotor. This article describes the process, types, and levels of ice formation on wind turbine blades, and summarizes existing blade ice detection methods and anti-icing technologies. In order to better address the impact of blade ice formation on wind turbines, corresponding ice detection technol-ogies and anti-icing technologies can be used for different climates and regions to reduce the impact of blade ice formation on wind turbines.Mastering the current development status in this field is of great significance for promoting the development of the wind power industry.
