Study on the Trade Competitiveness between Xinjiang and Central Asian Countries under the Background of Xinjiang Pilot Free Trade Zone
In November 2023,Xinjiang Pilot Free Trade Zone was officially inaugurated,providing unprece-dented development opportunities for Xinjiang to expand its opening to the outside world.The study of trade competitiveness between Xinjiang and Central Asian countries is not only conducive to the promotion of region-al economic cooperation between China and the countries along the"One Belt One Road",but also provides a reference for the future economic and trade cooperation between Xinjiang and Central Asian countries.Nine types of indicators,including comparative advantage,competitive advantage and complementary advantage,are selected to construct a trade competitiveness evaluation system to measure the trade competitiveness be-tween Xinjiang and the five Central Asian countries and their subdivided industries.The research shows that Xinjiang textile and miscellaneous products have strong comparative and competitive advantages with mineral products,plant products and precious metals of Central Asian countries.Xinjiang has strong complementary advantages over Central Asian countries in shoes and hats,textiles,plastics and rubber,miscellaneous prod-ucts and base metals;Central Asian countries have strong complementary advantages over Xinjiang in mineral products,base metals and plant products.Thus,it is proposed to enhance the core competitiveness of advan-tageous industries,strengthen the complementary advantages of key industries,expand economic and trade cooperation between other industries and the countries along the route,and set up Xinjiang-Central Asian countries free trade industrial parks.
