Manufacturing digitization is a new type of industrial form that integrates and develops digital technology and manufacturing industry, which provides a new opportunity for China to achieve green and low-carbon development.Based on the input-output tables and panel data of manufacturing industries from 2002 to 2018,the author systematically examines the effect and underlying mechanism of manufacturing digitization on carbon productivity. The empirical results show that there is a significant and robust positive relationship between manufacturing industry digitization and carbon productivity, with emission reduction effects varying across industry technological levels and digital elements.Mechanism research reveals that the level of economic development plays a positive moderating effect, and the impact of manufacturing industry digitalization on carbon productivity operates through two main intermediary channels:optimizing energy structures and reducing capital intensity. The findings of the study are useful for promoting the development of low-carbon economy.
