Analysis of the Pros and Cons of Admission Policy of General High School for Reducing the Scores of Students Retaking the High School Entrance Examination
Some regions in China have introduced the admission policy of the general high school for reducing the scores of re-takers in the high school entrance examination in recent years. This paper analyzes the pros and cons of this policy, and argues that although this policy can protect the interests of fresh junior high school graduates and ensure the secondary vocational enrollment to a certain extent,it will also further stimulate the exam competition and strengthen the belief of"one exam decides for life",which is not conducive to reducing the burden on students in the compulsory education stage. This paper suggests that in order to reduce the burden on students and to alleviate the anxiety of diversion between general high school and vocational school,we should take measures to expand students'right of choice, including their rights to choose exam, and give them multiple choices to be talents in different fields.
