Formative Foundations,Practical Paths and Influencing Factors of Internationalization at Home of Higher Education in the United States
The practical paths of internationalization at home,a dominant paradigm in American higher education,have undergone significant transformations.The theoretical foundations established by European frameworks,the cultural identities of American citizens from diverse racial backgrounds,and the heterogeneous backgrounds of university personnel constitute the basis for the implementation of internationalization at home in the United States.In response,American higher education institutions have increased the proportion of international students,offered intercultural international courses,and integrated faculty members from diverse backgrounds.This paper examines the influencing factors such as practices in American higher education,the evolution of digital technology,and the cultivation of cross-cultural competencies.In order to enhance the internationalization level of higher education,China should update the concept of internationalization at home,foster a multicultural ecosystem within universities,and innovate modes for cross-cultural competency cultivation.
