中国近代地理翻译及其对地理学科的影响

摘要
中国现代地理学的发端和创建与地理翻译密切相关,因此厘清中国地理翻译脉络有助于考察中国地理学科的发展过程.从地理翻译对地理学科的影响角度来看,西方地理知识在近代中国的翻译历程经历三个发展阶段:1767至1860年地理知识的早期传播与中国近代地理教育的萌芽,1861至1920年国别地理翻译和中小学地理教材译写,1921至1949年西方地理学理论的系统译介与中国高等地理学科的创建.地理翻译不仅推动了中国地理课程体系的创建与发展以及地理教材的现代转型,也推动了中国地理学术研究的快速发展.
Abstract
The inception and development of geography in China bear close relationship with geography translation.Therefore,an ex-amination of the context of modem China's geography translation is conducive to exploring the development of China's geography disci-pline.Viewed from the influences of geography translation on China's geography discipline,the translation of western geographical knowledge in modem China went through three periods,i.e.,the early dissemination of geographical knowledge and the germination of geographical education in China from 1767 to 1860,the translation of geographical knowledge of western countries and geographical textbooks for primary and middle school students from 1861 to 1920,and the systematic translation of geography theories and the estab-lishment of geography discipline in higher education from 1921 to 1949.China's geography translation has contributed not only to the modernization of geography course system and textbooks,but also to the development of geographical academic research in China.
