Application of PCM and ACVG Techniques in the Detection of External Anti-Corrosive Coating of Steel Pipe
The failure of anti-corrosive coating will cause the steel pipe's protection ability to decline, accelerate the corrosion of the steel pipe and cause potential safety hazards for the pipeline's operation.PCM(Pipeline Current Mapper)technique,as an advanced non-destructive detection technology,is effective in detecting flaws in the external anti-corrosive coating of steel pipe.It can also fully and effectively evaluate the overall performance of the external anti-corrosive coating and is often used to test the external anti-corrosive coating of gas steel pipe.A certain section of the running steel pipe was selected as the field test subject. The PCM technology was utilized to apply the signal to steel pipe and accurately record the attenuation of the current with the detection path distance. The anti-corrosive coating of the target steel pipe was analyzed in combination with the pipeline data, and then the ACVG(Alternating Current Voltage Gradient)method was employed to precisely locate the corrosion point, and the onsite excavations test was combined for verification,so as to provide strategic guidance for the maintenance and management of the steel pipe.
