Effects of Aqueous Extract from Paeonia ostii on Zea mays Seed Germination and Seeding Growth
In order to elucidate the effects of aqueous extract fractions from Paeonia ostii on Zea mays seed germination and seeding growth, this paper studied germination potential, germination rate and some of seedling morphological and physiological indexes of Z.mays after treated with aqueous fractions extracted from different parts of P.ostii.The results showed that different aqueous fractions extracted from P.ostii had certain inhibitory effects on Z.mays seed germination and seeding growth. The inhibitory capability of aqueous fractions was extract from roof > extract from rhizosphere soil > extract from stem and leaf. From the response index,we can see that germination potential and germination index could be indicators of the strength of allelopathy when seed germinated.During seedling growth, the activities of peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD)and the root activity were sensitive after treated with aqueous extract from P.ostii.
