Research on seismic performance of U-shaped energy dissipation steel plate graded yield metal dampers
Traditional metal dampers were widely used due to their reliable energy consumption and price advantages.Currently, duo to the problem of single energy consumption and not meeting the energy consumption requirements of different seismic levels,a graded yield metal damper was designed by combining U-shaped energy dissipation steel plates with different parameters, taking advantage of the characteristics of simple structure, low price and strong energy consumption of U-shaped energy dissipation steel plates. The results of low cyclic loading test and anti-fatigue test on two specimens showed that this damper had good energy dissipation capacity and excellent anti-fatigue performance. The skeleton curves showed obvious graded yield characteristics, which could achieve the goal of phased energy consumption under different intensity earthquakes. The equivalent viscous damping ratio increase gradually with the increase of displacement, and the final value was basically stable at around 0.43,which showed that the damper had a stable and reliable energy dissipation effect. The stiffness degradation curves showed a tendency that the initial speed declined fast, and then the decline speed was gradually slow. Finally, the finite element software ABAQUS was adopted to simulate the damper specimens, and the results of numerical simulation were in good agreement with those of experiments.A reference could be provided for the research and engineering application of graded yield metal damper by the work in this paper.
