Current situation and influencing factors of scoliosis among children in Luolong District,Luoyang City
In order to understand the status and influencing factors of scoliosis among children in Luolong District,Luoyang City,and provide reference and scientific basis for the prevention and coordination of abnormal spinal curvature in schools,we selected 1123 children from 12 schools in Luolong District,Luoyang City for scoliosis screening and questionnaire survey with a stratified cluster random sampling method.The results showed that the detection rate of scoliosis among children in Luolong District,Luoyang City was 7.2%(8.8%for girls and 5.7%for boys).The detection rates of scoliosis among children whose BMIs are normal,fat,and overweight are 8.6%,5.8%,and 3.8%,respectively.The detection rates of scoliosis for picky eating students and non-picky eating ones are 7.20%and 7.10%,respectively.The detection rates of scoliosis for students whose chests are never,often,occasionally,and always a punch away from the edge of the table when reading and writing are 11.05%,7.55%,6.53%,and 2.68%,respectively.The detection rates of scoliosis for students with unconsciously relaxing sitting posture and consciously sitting upright posture are 9.40%and 5.33%,respectively.The detection rates of scoliosis for students who often,occasionally,always,or never lie down when reading books or electronic screens are 10.96%,6.62%,6.42%,4.07%,respectively.The detection rates of scoliosis for students who exercised for 11-30,31-60,5-10 or longer than 60 min per time are 9.33%,6.06%,4.60%,4.07%,respectively.The detection rates of scoliosis for students who exercise for 4-5,2-3,more than 5 times or 1 time per week are 9.42%,8.95%,4.82%,4.55%,respectively.Obviously,the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05).It can be concluded that behavioral habits,spinal posture,and physical exercise are among the factors that cause spinal abnormalities.It is recommended to strengthen health education on scoliosis,conduct regular scoliosis screening,and strengthen physical exercise to enhance spinal health.
