Phenotypic genetic diversity analysis of Cucurbita maxima germplasm resources in Shanghai
In order to improve the efficient utilization on germplasm resources of Cucurbita maxima Duch.in Shanghai and to accelerate the breeding process of C.maxima, the phenotypic diversity of 21 germplasms of C.maxima was analyzed in this study. The results showed that the coefficients of variation of seven quantitative traits of C.maxima ranged from 10.01%to 33.65%,and the genetic diversity index H'ranged from 1.474 to 2.004.The H'of 18 qualitative traits ranged from 0 to 1.724,and the H'of quantitative traits was generally greater than the H'of qualitative traits.Correlation analysis showed that the traits of leaf length, leaf width, petiole length, and first male flower position were significantly and positively correlated with the single melon weight;C.maxima with dark green color main vines had significantly thicker petioles than those with green color ones, and plants with white spots on leaf surface had shorter leaf length and lower single melon weight.Principal component analysis(PCA)divided 14 phenotypic traits of C.maxima into four principal components, with a cumulative contribution rate of 73.15%.And the leaf-related traits could be used to evaluate the phenotypic traits of C.maxima.Cluster analysis divided 21 germplasms into 5 groups with different characteristics, which provided a basis for the subsequent breeding new cultivars of C.maxima.
