Single atom catalysts are a new type of catalytic material with advantages such as high selectivity,stability and catalytic activity.It can be applied in catalytic fields like oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution.This review summarizes the preparation methods,composition and structure of non-noble metal single atom catalysts from the Ⅷ group iron series elements,some transition metals and main-group elements,as well as their research progress in ORR applications.In particular,the electrochemical properties such as catalytic activity,stability,and performances in zinc air batteries and fuel cells are emphatically discussed.The application prospect of non-noble metal single atom catalysts in oxygen reduction reaction is prospected.The identified issues for the preparation of high performance single atom catalysts are addressed.
