The Study of Fluorine Monomer Modified Acrylic Resin
The modification of acrylic resin was carried out by using various organic fluorine monomers.Through investigation of polymerization process, types and amounts of modifying monomers, perfluoroethyl octylacrylate was selected as the modifying monomer to synthesize fluorine monomer modified acrylic resin with high contact angle and low surface energy. The infrared spectroscopy, relative molecular mass and distribution, and glass transition temperature were measured, which confirmed the involvement of fluorine monomers in the copolymerization with acrylic monomers. The influence factors on the surface properties of fluorinated acrylic ester copolymer coatings were studied. The results indicate that perfluoroethyl octylacrylate significantly improves the modification effect on acrylic resin. When the amount of perfluoroethyl octylacrylate accounts for 6%-8%of the total monomers, the surface tension, hydrophobicity(water contact angle and water absorption),and weather resistance of the coating film are significantly improved. And the water contact angle can reach approximately 105°.The gloss retention of the coating film is 82.5%.There is no rust, blistering, cracking, and chalking. The discoloration is less than or equal to 1 level.
