Study on Influencing Factors and Characteristic VOC Screening of Water-Based Coatings
Based on the national standard method,a method for the determination of volatile organic compounds in waterborne coatings by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)was established. The internal standard method was used to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of four common waterborne coatings in the market, including waterborne interior wall coatings, waterborne exterior wall coatings, waterborne waterproof coatings, and waterborne wood coatings, and to discuss the influencing factors in the test process. The results showed that the main influencing factors in the VOC tests of waterborne coatings are the selection of internal standard substances, the calibration factors of characteristic organic compounds, and the instrument conditions. After optimizing the test conditions, the test results showed that the main organic compounds in the interior and exterior wall coatings are ethylene glycol,1,2-propylene glycol,2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol;The main organic compounds in the waterborne waterproof coatings are n-butanol,ethylene glycol, propylene glycol methyl ether,n-butyl ether, butyl acetate, butyl acrylate, and butyl propionate; The characteristic organic compounds in the waterborne wood coatings are triethylamine,1,2-propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol methyl ether, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate,1-(2-methoxy-1-methylethoxy)isopropylalcohol,2-(2-hydroxypropyl)-1-propanol,1,1'-[(1-methyl-1,2-ethylsubunit)bis(oxy)]2-(2-propanol),ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, diethylene glycol butyl ether, etc.
