Preparation and Performance of Polyvinyl Chloride-Waterborne Polyurethane Latex
Developing low volatile organic compound(VOCs)content water-based coatings is an effective approach to reducing pollution and aiding in the achievement of dual carbon goals. In this paper,a polymerizable waterborne polyurethane(WPU)was synthesized, which was used as a comonomer and a polymerizable emulsifier. With polyvinyl chloride(PVC)latex as the seed and aziridine(H-100)as the crosslinking agent,PVC-WPU latex was prepared by semi-continuous seed emulsion polymerization. The latex was applied to metal anti-corrosion coatings, and the anti-corrosion performance of the coatings was investigated through methods such as contact angle, water absorption, adhesion, and electrochemical testing analysis. The results showed that the low-frequency impedance value(|Z|f=0.01 Hz)of C-PVC-WPU(7%DMPA)coating is approximately 107 Ω·cm2 and the corrosion inhibition efficiency is 99.98%after soaking in 3.5%NaCl solution for 5 days.
