The Influence of Color Development on Millimeter Wave Radar
With the wide application of millimeter wave radar system in the field of automobile assisted driving, ensuring its long-term efficient and stable operation is very important for safe driving. In this paper, the influence of bumper on millimeter wave radar power attenuation was analyzed and rectified, and a set of color development strategies for new model development was proposed. The result showed that the particle size and content of aluminum powder, pearlpowder and other effect pigments have significant influence on radar power attenuation. Therefore,we recommend at least 2-3 rounds of test optimization cycles during the color development design phase in order to ensure that the performance of the millimeter wave radar will not be affected. At the same time, for the use of aluminum powder as the effect color formula, its particle size should be strictly controlled not to exceed 27 μm,and the mass ratio should be less than 4%,in order to reduce the negative impact on radar performance. In addition,by measuring the dielectric constant of the color paint coating, the influence on radar power attenuation can be objectively evaluated, and it is recommended to control the value within 20.In the engineering development stage,it is also an effective method to lock the optimal substrate thickness through gradient testing to improve the radar power attenuation problem. This study not only provides scientific guidance for the color development of automobile bumper, but also provides an important reference index for the design and application of millimeter wave radar.
