Efficacy of polyethylene glycol combined with pranoprofen in patients with xeropthalmia after cataract sonoemulsification
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of polyethylene glycol combined with pranoprofen in patients with xeropthalmia after cataract sonoemulsification. Methods:Forty patients(40 eyes)with xeropthalmia after cataract sonoemulsification were randomly divided into a control group(n=20)and an observation group(n=20),the control group was treated with polyethylene glycol, and the observation group was additionally given pranoprofen.Clinical efficacy, tear film thickness,Schirmer tear test(Stt),corneal fluorescein staining score(FL),tear film break-up time(BUT),inflammation index, international standard ocular surface disease index(OSDI),negative emotions and tear oxidative stress level were compared between the two groups. Results:The clinical efficacy of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(95.0%vs 75.0%,P>0.05).Tear film thickness,Stt,and BUT were higher, and FL,inflammatory indexes,OSDI scores and negative mood scores and lipid peroxides levels were lower in the observation group than the control group 1 and 3 months after treatment(all P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination therapy is of benefit to improving the tear film stability and basal secretion of ocular fluid in the patients, and promoting their recovery with better clinical efficacy.
