Observation of the clinical efficacy of modified Shaoyao gancao tang combined with ear acupoint embedding for elderly functional constipation patients with intestinal dryness and fluid deficiency
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of self-made modified Shaoyao gancao tang combined with ear acupoint embedding for elderly functional constipation patients with intestinal dryness and fluid deficiency and evaluate the quality of life.Methods:One hundred and eleven elderly functional constipation patients with intestinal dryness and fluid deficiency who visited the Huacao Community Health Service Center in Minhang District,Shanghai from April 2020 to October 2022 were selected and divided into a Western medicine group,a Chinese medicine group,and an acupuncture and medicine group with 37 cases each with random number table method.The Western medicine group was treated with mosapride 5 mg each time,3 times a day,for 14 consecutive days,the Chinese medicine group was treated with modified Shaoyao gancao tang 200 mL daily in 2 doses for a 14-day course,and the acupuncture and medicine group were treated with modified Shaoyao gancao tang combined with ear acupoint embedding for 14 days course.Three groups were compared in terms of improvement,effectiveness,and safety before and after 2 weeks of treatment,and evaluated with patient assessment of constipation quality of life scale(PAC-QOL).Results:The effective rate of the acupuncture and medicine group was 91.89%(34/37),the effective rate of the Chinese medicine group was 89.19%(33/37),both groups were higher than 78.38%(29/37)of the Western medicine group(P<0.05);after intervention,the abdominal distension scores in the acupuncture and medicine and Chinese medicine groups were better than that in the Western medicine group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the Western medicine group was 5.41%,the Chinese medicine group was 2.7%,and there was no adverse reaction in the acupuncture and medicine group(P>0.05);after intervention,the total score of PAC-QOL in the acupuncture and medicine group was better than that in the Chinese medicine group and the Western medicine group(P<0.05),and there was a significant difference in the scores of worry and anxiety,and satisfaction(P<0.01).Conclusion:The combination of modified Shaoyao gancao tang and ear acupoint embedding has a definite therapeutic effect on elderly functional constipation patients with intestinal dryness and fluid deficiency,and can significantly improve the degree of abdominal distension,reduce anxiety,and improve satisfaction with the therapeutic effect.
