Analysis of current status of second-hand smoke exposure in pupil's families and the influence factors and self-protection behavior in Jiangqiao Community,Shanghai
Objective:To understand the current situation of second-hand smoke exposure in pupil's families and influence factors and self-protection behavior in Jiangqiao Community,Shanghai,so as to provide evidence for reducing the second-hand smoke exposure in pupils'families.Methods:From April to June 2019,a two-stage stratified cluster random sampling method was used to randomly select 2 schools from 7 primary schools in Jiangqiao Community,Shanghai,one class from each grade was selected,and the pupils in ten classes participated in the questionnaire survey.A total of 433 pupils were investigated,433 valid questionnaires were retrieved,and the effective questionnaire recovery rate was 100% .Among the pupils,there were 227 boys(52.4% )and 206 girls(47.6% ).Results:Two hundred and ten pupils'families were exposed to second-hand smoke,and the second-hand smoke exposure rate was 48.49%;the exposure rate of second-hand smoke in boys was higher than that in girls(59.47% vs 36.40%,χ2=22.99,P<0.01).The exposure rate of second-hand smoke in families of children whose parents smoke was 67.21% vs 24.33% (χ2=78.38,P<0.01),which was higher than those in families of children without parents smoking;children who were aware of the harm of second-hand smoke had lower exposure rates to second-hand smoke in their families than those who had not heard of it(33.33% vs 55.59%,χ2=18.65,P<0.01),which was lower than that in the families of children with unknown parent smoking.The second-hand smoke exposure rate of second-grade families was 62.92%,which was higher than that of other grades(χ2=17.18,P<0.01).The exposure rate of second-hand smoke family with father's education in high school and above was lower than that of second-hand smoke family with father's education in high school and below(38.46% vs 56.72%,χ2=14.31,P<0.01).The family exposure rate of second-hand smoke with family restrictions was lower than that without family restrictions(24.24% vs 60.45%,χ2=48.59,P<0.01),in the face of family second-hand smoke exposure,94.76% of pupils took active or passive protection behavior;the proportion of children disliking second-hand smoke and taking active protection was significantly higher(χ2=23.754,P<0.001).32.38% and 33.33% of smokers responded to children's proactive behavior and passive guarantee behavior by avoiding or stopping smoking immediately.Conclusion:The second-hand smoke exposure rate in pupils'family in Jiangqiao Community,Shanghai is relatively high,but the awareness rate of second-hand smoke exposure hazard is low.Family restriction of smoking is an effective means to protect pupils from second-hand smoke exposure hazard,the pupils have certain self-protection ability in the face of passive smoking.Schools and families should strengthen the health education of second-hand smoke exposure hazard of pupils.
