The clinical research of therapy of acu-stimulation in sphenopalatine ganglion combined with traditional conservative treatment in the treatment of moderate to severe peripheral facial paralysis
Objective:To explore the clinical effects of therapy of acu-stimulation in sphenopalatine ganglion combined with traditional conservative treatment in the treatment of moderate to severe peripheral facial paralysis.Methods:Seventy-two patients with moderate to severe peripheral facial paralysis treated in the Acupuncture and Massage Rehabilitation Department of Jiading Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shanghai from May 2020 to March 2022 were selected and randomly divided into two groups. The conservative group was treated with hormone, neurotrophic agents, rehabilitation and traditional Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion, while the observation group was treated with therapy of acu-stimulation in sphenopalatine ganglion on the basis of the conservative group;both groups were treated once every other day for four weeks. Before and after treatment, improvement of symptoms and immunoglobulin level were analyzed and compared with the House-Brackmann(H-B)facial nerve function rating scale, orbicularis oculi and orbicularis oris muscle amplitude, facial disability index(FDI)score, brief quality of life rating scale(SF-36).Results:The facial nerve function grade, orbicularis oculi and orbicularis oris muscle amplitude,FDI,SF-36 and immunoglobulin levels in both groups were significantly improved after treatment(P<0.05);the observation group was significantly better than the conservative group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Therapy of acu-stimulation in sphenopalatine ganglion combined with traditional conservative treatment can effectively improve facial nerve function and improve the quality of life of patients with moderate to severe peripheral facial paralysis.
