Effect of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis and influence on facial expression muscle elasticity
Objective:To explore the application effect of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis,and focus on the analysis of the impact of acupuncture and moxibustion on facial expression muscle elasticity of patients.Methods:Ninety-eight patients with peripheral facial paralysis who received treatment from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected and divided into a control group and research group with 49 patients in each group by random number table method.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,the research group added acupuncture and moxibustion on the basis of the control group,and treatment cycle was 28 days.The clinical efficacy after treatment,the elastic modulus values of the affected facial muscles,and chewing function before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.the Toronto facial gmaing system(TFGS)was used to evaluate the recovery of facial nerve function before and after treatment in both groups of patients.Results:The total effective rate after treatment in the research group was 93.88%(46/49),which was higher than that in the control group 79.59%(39/49,P<0.05).The elastic modulus values of the frontal muscles,angle depressor muscles,and lower lip muscles after treatment in both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment,and the research group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).Compared with those before treatment,the TFGS scores of patients in both groups gradually increased at 2 and 4 weeks of treatment,and the TFGS scores of patients in the research group at the same time point were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The chewing efficiency index after treatment in both groups was significantly higher than that before treatment,and the research group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture and moxibustion can significantly improve the muscle relaxation symptoms of the affected side of patients with peripheral facial paralysis,more conducive to the recovery of muscle elasticity and facial nerve function of the affected side,improve the chewing function of patients,and improve the overall efficacy.
