Analysis of the status and risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis in the elderly population in Hongmei Community in Shanghai
Objective:To analyze the status and risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis in the elderly population in the community. Methods:The status and risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis in the 4 533 elderly population over 60 years who received the community health examination in Hongmei Community Health Service Center,Shanghai from May 2021 to October 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, among them,2 044 were males and 2 489 females and the average age was(69.25±5.25)years.Results:The detection rates of simple thickening of carotid artery intima and plaque were 18.01%and 51.2%,respectively,among them, the detection rate of male carotid artery plaque was 56.90%and that of female was 46.48%;the detection rate of carotid artery abnormality increased with age,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The detection rates of carotid artery stenosis<50%,50%to 70%,70%to 100%and block were 36.48%,11.30%,3.10%,0.31%,respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that man, advanced age, smoking, lipid disorders, hyperuricemia, hypertension and diabetes were risk factors for carotid plaque. Conclusion:The detection rate of carotid artery plaque is high in the community elderly population, and the intervention and diseases management should be carried out targeting relevant risk factors.
